The December 2012 rape of a young college student in India, pseudonym’d “Nirbhaya”, became a story that was heard around the world. It sparked immense hurt and outrage. The attack was a catalyst for conversation around sexual violence, privilege, and the right to live a free and safe life.

In January of 2013, at a music festival in Darjeeling, 600 guitarists came together to play John Lennon’s “Imagine”. They dedicated the performance to Nirbhaya.

600 guitarists. Many of them men. Coming together in tribute and in peace.

Nirbhaya died on December 29, 2012. The level of brutality and violence that exists on this planet is REAL. So is the CREATIVITY. There is passion to fight against injustice. And there is laughter to light up a universe.
